Sacramento, CA – No on 27, Californians for Tribal Sovereignty and Safe Gaming, the opposition campaign to Proposition 27, the out-of-state corporate online sports betting ballot measure, today released the following statement on the Public Policy Institute of California’s (PPIC) “Californians and Their Government” Survey results which show a majority of Californians (54%) opposed Proposition 27 while only about a third of Californians (34%) support the measure.

Los Angeles, CA – At their July Executive Board Meeting, the California Democratic Party (CDP) officially voted to Oppose Proposition 27, the out of state corporate online sports betting ballot measure. The California Young Democrats also voted over the weekend to oppose Proposition 27.

The CTA represents more than 300,000 members across the state. With more than 1,100 chapters in California school districts, this is a significant endorsement which reflects a rapidly growing coalition of community, business, and tribal organizations in opposition to the measure.

Our polling team recently conducted a statewide survey measuring California voters’ views of the  proposed corporate online sports betting initiative currently gathering signatures for the  November 2022 ballot. The poll was conducted by The Mellman Group between February 9th through February 17th of 2022, surveying 900 CA voters using a combination of text to online, cell  phone and landline interviews. The margin of error for this poll is 3.25% with a confidence interval of 95%.

Tribes are committed to a “NO” campaign that will Protect CA Tribal Gaming Three California tribal governments have formed a committee to campaign against an online sports  betting measure sponsored by out-of-state online gaming corporations. The San Manuel Band of Mission  Indians, the Rincon Band of Luisueño Indians, and Wilton Rancheria have established Californians for  Tribal Sovereignty and Safe Gaming.
